Homestretch goals 2021 – Things to do before the end of the year – Verity Roat Language Solutions

It’s almost the end of the year, meaning it’s time to set some ‘homestretch goals’? But what is a homestretch goal, and what are mine for this year? Read on to find out!

What is a homestretch goal?

Homestretch goals are things you want to do before the end of the year. For me, I’ll be looking at my New Year’s Resolutions from this year and deciding what, if any, I want to complete in the last two months of the year and if there’s anything else I want to do!

What are my home stretch goals?

I’ve decided to set myself five goals that are a mix of personal and business goals. After reviewing my work and personal goals for the year, I realised most of them were no longer priorities. Instead, I would like to:

1. Catch up on my regular copywriting job.

In August, I started a regular copywriting job but am lagging behind on the set hours due to illness and holidays. I would love to be all caught up by the end of the year!

2. Be ready to finish the third quarter of the book translation in the first week of the new year.

Again, I need to work hard on catching up in November and December so I can finish it in the first week of January.

3. Read 75 books.

This is actually a stretch goal! I’ve already surpassed 50 books, which was my original goal, and am now up to 65 books, so I think this is doable!

4. Work out how to use my sewing machine.

A couple of years ago, my mum bought me a second-hand sewing machine with no instruction manual. I’ve been meaning to get it out and give it a go ever since then, but just haven’t found the time! Recently, I was lamenting with my husband that I haven’t done any and, having recently decided to leave Sundays free of work, household chores or anything that is remotely ‘necessary’, and just dedicate them to my hobbies and relaxing, so now is the perfect time to give it a try!

5. Do at least two new bakes.

As with above, I love baking but haven’t had much time for it recently. I want to dedicate two Sundays before the end of the year to trying to bake something new, starting with macarons this weekend!

Have you set any home stretch goals, things that you’d like to do before the end of the year? Let me know in the comments below!
